Trivision/Division [2016]
Berlin | Germany
Medium: Photography on Prisms | 8 Digital and 8 B&W historical photos
“Trivision/Division” is a photography installation that connects Berlin’s past and presents through optical illusions, printed photographs on triangle prisms and anamorphosis. The history of Berlin has been preserved throughout the city by displaying archival photographs in public spaces, and by matching some compositions with current locations in Berlin, anamorphic art brings history to life.
In “Trivision/Division”, the viewers trespass the bi-dimensional plane by moving around each frame, thereby discovering the same location or photographic composition in two different times: one black and white archival photo placed on the left side of the prisms, and a colored approximate photo from the same location is situated on the right side. When viewed from the right perspectival angle and in specific standing points, the viewers are drawn from the past to the present, and they may hope to find the relation between time and space in analogue-anamorphosis images.
